Me and My Cameras

My name is Ulrika Hedman, and I'm not a photographer (in fact, I'm a former journalist, now a PhD Candidate at the Dept. of Journalism, Media and Communication at University of Gothenburg).

Much to my surprise, I've found out I like birding, and photographing birds. I'm more of a "happy amateur" than an ornithologist, though, so please excuse me if I get the birds wrong occasionally.

My favorite bird is the oystercatcher. Luckily, I live in the heart of Bohuslän, at the Swedish west coast. The oystercatcher returns here in late February, early March. The ones in the header is photographed at Mollön, Uddevalla, on April 3, 2015 (Pentax K-50, ISO 200, 300mm, f/11, 1/400).
I use either of two cameras (but there are other cameras in the household):

• A bright red Pentax K-50, with 18–55mm/55–300mm lenses.
• A ten year old Canon PowerShot A620. I bring this mostly on travels, as it's easy to transport and it's not a total disaster should I loose it. Despite its obvious limitations, I'm quite fond of it.

The main purpose of this blog is to function as my personal "archive of birds"; the blog is a functional way of getting things organized. I can as well make it public and let other people enjoy. Some photos on this blog are shot by the person I share my camera and household with, Anders, and mostly (but not always) this is stated in the lead.

For copyright reasons I only publish pictures with limited size and resolution – I don't want to see my pictures anywhere else than on this blog.
